The Ashgabat seminar was attended by 20 representatives from environmental organizations, international environmental projects, public fssociations, and the media.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Serdar Allekov, Chairman of the CSO «Nature Preserving Society of Turkmenistan», and Mr. Andre Algermissen, Regional Authorized Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Central Asia. They thanked all seminar participants for their time and wished them successful work, emphasizing the relevance of cooperation in nature conservation, particularly in taking joint actions to implement projects aimed at improving the environmental situation in the Central Asian region, raising the level of environmental education in educational institutions across Central Asian countries, fostering and developing citizens’ environmental awareness, and engaging citizens in environmentally significant decision-making.
In his presentation, «The Role of Germany in Addressing Environmental Problems in the Context of Global Climate Change», Mr. Algermissen underscored that the primary goal of Germany’s enacted Climate Protection Act is for Germany to become climate-neutral by 2045. He also added that achieving climate and environmental protection goals is only possible collectively. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain dialogue, exchange experiences, and discuss potential solutions.

Following this, presentations were given by Berkeli Atayev, Director of the PAE «Tebigy Kuwwat», on the topic of the consequences of global warming on the environment and necessary mitigation measures, and by Merdan Arazmedov, an employee of the NPST, who spoke about the Society’s activities in the field of climate change adaptation.
The seminar concluded with a pivotal event, namely the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the CSO «Nature Preserving Society of Turkmenistan» and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia. As a sign of mutual respect, the parties exchanged valuable books: «Building Bridges of Cooperation: 30th Anniversary of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia» and the new two-volume edition of the «Red Data Book of Turkmenistan» in Turkmen, English, and Russian.
During their four-day official visit to Turkmenistan, the delegation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Central Asia held meetings with representatives from several state ministries and agencies.
